Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has appointed Harris Potani as the acting Chief Elections Officer.

High Court Judge Dorothy Degabrielle has thrown out businessman Thom Mpinganjira’s application for her to recuse herself from a case in which the businessman is being accused of attempting to bribe Constitutional Court judges.

The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has asked President Dr Lazarus Chakwera to resubmit Martha Chizuma’s names as director general of the Ant-Corruption Bureau (ACB) before Parliament’s Public Appointments Committee (PAC).

Lawyer representing Thom Mpinganjira, in a case in which the businessman is being accused of attempting to bribe Constitution Court judges, Patrice Nkhono, has asked presiding judge, Justice Dorothy Degabrielle, to recuse herself from the case, on allegation of impropriety against her and the Judge President of the High Court.
