New Ministers sworn in

The newly appointed Minister of Health Dr. Peter Kampalume, M.P. and Deputy Minister of Defence Malison Ndau have been sworn-in today at a ceremony that took place at Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe.

The swearing-in ceremony was held by the new Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda who has replaced Anastazia Msosa SC retired.


Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony, Mutharika said he expects the two to keep the Oaths and walk the talk to ensure efficient and effective implementation of Government policies and programmes.

Mutharika also urged the ministers to protect public resources and foster transparency and accountability on top of undertaking their various mandates with utmost loyalty, integrity, dedication, commitment and hard work.

“Any Member of the Cabinet who will be involved in corruption activities will be prosecuted, and if found guilty, dismissed and jailed,” said Mutharika.

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika appointed the two on Monday following a Cabinet reshuffle which saw Tracizio Gowelo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and Paul Chibingu, Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development being dropped.
