CHAKWERA FIRES UP FLAMES AHEAD OF CLASH WITH SENEGAL

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has pledged to honour the Malawi National Football Team the Flames if they proceed to the next round of the Africa Cup of Nations, State House announces in a statement.

The statement says if the Flames proceed to the next round, the Malawi leader pledges to honour each player who will play in today's encounter against Senegal with K1 million and K500 thousand to those on the bench.
 
Dr Chakwera says his gesture towards the Flames seeks to motivate the players to play with purpose and clinch victory.
 
"The President joins all Malawians in wishing the Flames the very best as they prepare for the game and assuring them of support," reads the communication in part.
 
The Flames are scheduled to clash with Senegal at 6 pm this evening.
 
In another AFCON encounter, Gabon will take on Morocco at 9 pm.
