LAKESHORE RESORTS GEARED UP FOR SADC SUMMIT

Players in the tourism sector along the lakeshore have expressed optimism of a business boost following the start of the SADC Summit in Lilongwe.

This comes at a time Malawi assumes chairmanship of the 16 member block. 
 
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera will be Chairing the 16 member SADC block which has a population of over 300 million. 
 
This means Malawi will be hosting a number of conferences between now and August 2022, attracting more visitors to the country.
 
Analysts have always said there is a need for the tourism and hospitality industry to get organised to maximise its potential. 
 
Rabson Chamanga of Sun and Sand Holiday Resort in Mangochi, says hospitality facilities along the lakeshore are ready to accommodate and offer the best of their services.
 
’In preparation for Malawi’s SADC  Chairmanship, our 401-bed Resort will showcase to visitors the beautiful scenery, the Olympic size swimming pool and the nearby birds’ island, just to mention but a few,” said Chamanga.
 
In its quest to fight COVID-19, Chamanga says they have installed high-tech disinfection chambers to ensure visitors are safe and always observe all preventive measures.
 
“We are committed to fighting COVID-19 pandemic here, let visitors come, they will be safe, we follow all guidelines and preventive measures," Chamanga added.
