A Form one learner at Mangochi Secondary School Thokozani Mpinganjira is on the verge of dropping out of school following his father’s inability to pay school fees due to mental illness. Speaking to MBC the boy’s mother Catherine Mpinganjira has expressed worry that the family will not be able to pay school fees because of the father’s condition.

Chief Executive Officer for Mzuzu City Council, Gomezgani Nyasulu, says putting an end to illegal vending in the city can help boost the council’s revenue collection base. Nyasulu has since announced that the council will work with relevant arms of government to enforce its by-laws.


And Mzuzu Main Market Chairperson, Alexander Sikwese, has disclosed that vendors plying their trade in the market have stopped paying market fees until the council flushes out all vendors plying their trade outside designated markets.

One of the country’s financial literacy educators Theana Msolomba has said that increasing knowledge on how to make, manage and regenerate money at household level has potential to grow Malawi’s economy. Msolomba said, including financial literacy in the education curriculum is the most sustainable way of advancing financial literacy education in the country.
