The two Malawians which include a driver have been identified as Alufeyo Mkwanda, 36 of Eneya village in Traditional Authority (TA) Kwataine in Ntcheu and Mathews Msopole, 27 of Mwahimba Village, TA Kyungu in Karonga.
According to Mponela Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Inspector Kaitano Lubrino, the arrest was made on Sunday, May 23 2021 at Mthandi Village near Mponela Trading Centre where the Police mounted a roadblock in the M1 road.
Kaitano said the law enforcers managed to get through the truck and discovered the ordeal and two Malawians and all the ten Ethiopians were arrested at the spot.
The suspects will soon appear before Mponela Magistrate Court where the Malawians will answer the case of trafficking in person contrary to section 14(1) of human trafficking Act while the Ethiopians will answer a case of Illegal entry.
Police are warning community members that anybody involved in any crime act will be arrested and prosecuted.
