Speaking to a crowd, clad in DPP colours that gathered at Kanyenda ground in Nkhotakota district on Sunday, Henry Chimunthu Banda told people that they must vote wisely by voting for the incumbent President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and himself as a member of Parliament. He was speaking on Sunday at an official launch of his campaign.
The former Speaker of Parliament went on further to assure people that his campaign will be done on door to door because it is where the electorates are being found. Chimunthu Banda went on to say it is through this door to door campaign that he will teach electorates how to vote but also explain to them clearly what he will do when voted into power.
The aspiring candidate therefore, told the gathering that he will make sure that people have enough food throughout the year, construction of a smart bus depot as well as building a girl’s hostel at Kanyenda Community Day Secondary School among others. Banda said with the current dynamic leadership of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, the country now has good hospitals, roads and food hence a need of another term of office.
In his remarks, senior chief Kanyenda's representative said as chiefs, they will give room for all political parties in the district to hold peaceful campaign rallies and will encourage all politicians to dwell on issue based campaign without castigating others.
Chimunthu Banda later advised people to still go and vote in large numbers though some lost their voter cards. He said they will be assisted accordingly because the Malawi Electoral Commission has the records of all people who registered.
