And according to the Chairperson of the organising committee Victor Madhopa, this year’s ceremony will focus on women and youth empowerment.
Madhlopa added that, the event—pegged at a K30 million budget—will be preceded by women and youth conferences.
Said Madhlopa: “What will happen is that there will be a women conference which will run back to back with a youth conference. The idea is that we want our women and youth to benefit from a number of aspects.”
Some of the topics to be discussed during the conference, he said, include gender-based violence, women economic empowerment, child marriages, women participation in decision making and women access to land.
Madhlopa said they are expecting over 5 000 attendees to this year’s ceremony which will be celebrated under the theme: Women and Culture: Ending all forms of discrimination against women and girls everywhere.
