The congestion which is common during peak hours has come about due to construction works currently underway for the Masauko Chipembere highway which has piled pressure on the roads that lead to Limbe Township from Bangwe, Chigumula and Blantyre city.

According to Blantyre City Council director of planning Costly Chanza, the city fathers are planning to come up with number of bypasses that would ease pressure on the roads.

`We are aware of the problem and as a result we are planning to develop city by passes immediately starting with the Limbe via Mthandizi, Namatapa to Mpingwe bypass which will be upgraded so that it can carter for some motorist coming from Bangwe to Limbe`. said Chanza.

He said the city will soon post signs and post in the newspaper to alert people on how the project will go about.

`We are also planning to come up with the biggest ring road in the city which will run from Chikwawa road, Naotcha, Chilomoni through M1 to Machinjiri`. added Chanza.

Some of the roads that are still in their planning stages according to Chanza are the Misesa to Manja roads and sunny side to Namiwawa road which will pass near Namiwawa primary school.
