Government has gazetted its duty-free week with Minister of Finance Felix Mlusu declaring that a maiden window for the annual initiative will begin later this month between January 23 – 29, Spokesperson for the Ministry Williams Banda has confirmed.

“What it means now is that what was announced by the Minister of Finance in the 2021 – 2022 budget will now be effective,” said Banda.
For one to qualify, you need to have a national identity card. Secondly, you need to register with Msonkho Online where you will be given a taxpayer identification. Those companies that are incorporated will not be allowed to enjoy the duty-free week,” he added.
According to Banda, the initiative will apply for goods worth below US$3,000 which is about K2.5 million.
