Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima says the private sector is key in wealth creation and mindset change, these being crucial in economic development.

Speaking during a Wealth Creation and Mindset Change Conference in Blantyre Chilima said it was disheartening to note that Malawi hasn't been developing since it attained independence because of the mentality that all development agendas are controlled by government.

He has since called upon the private sector to be part and parcel of the Agenda 2063 which is slated to create wealth through Agriculture, Industry and Urbanisation.

On mindset change, the vice president jokingly hinted: " until we realise that an aeroplane is just a mode of transport and not a symbol of status, we will not change our mindset" .

The one day Wealth Creation and Mindset Change Conference has been organised by Sycamore Consult.

Speakers at the conference include Director General of the National Planning Commission Dr Thomas Munthali, and other entrepreneurs such as Bishop Simama, Haroon Sacranie and Audry Mwala among others.

The aim is to help Malawians turn opportunity into reward, there by creating wealth.
