President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera says the Global Education Summit in London in the United Kingdom will unlock increased opportunities on promoting Government efforts in promoting girl - child education.

He was speaking on Sunday evening in Lilongwe on departure to London for the two - day Summit which begins on Wednesday, July 28. 
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicates the Malawi leader is expected to undertake various engagements in the buildup and on the sidelines of the Summit. 
"The Summit will receive donor commitments towards the goal of raising 5 Billion US dollars over five years in support of quality education in beneficiary partner countries including Malawi," it reads in part. 
The statement adds while there, Dr Chakwera will also meet UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He is expected to return on Sunday, August 1.
