Speaking to MBC, ESCOM's Public Relations Manager Innocent Chitosi said the list of defaulters in settling energy bills include government ministries,departments,agencies,private companies and individuals.

According to Chitosi among others because of these staggering bills ESCOM is loosing a lot of revenues in settling taxes for unsettled bills.

"Some of these bills dates back to three years ago," said Chitosi.

Meanwhile Chitosi has disclosed to that in a quest to deal with the malpractice once and for all they have intensified the migration of the customers from post paid to prepaid system.

From next week Monday ESCOM is scheduled to embark on a mass disconnection campaign for all accounts that have unpaid bills.
