Wittika murder case returns to court

The High Court in Lilongwe will this morning continue hearing the Allan Wittika murder case, where the prosecution team will parade more witnesses against the accused, Lester Maganga.

The State started parading witnesses after the accused denied the charges of murder and possessing live ammunition without permission.

On 20 March 2024, Justice Mzonde Mvula said trial will proceed from 2 to 4 April 2024.

Justice Mvula also reserved to unspecified date his ruling on the fresh bail application from Maganga, who is remanded at Maula Prison in Lilongwe.

However, he indicated that he will deliver his ruling anytime in the course of trial.

Mvula said he will give the defence and the State five days’ clear notice to ruling to the bail application.

So far, the State, led by Director of Public Prosecutions, Masauko Chamkakala, has paraded nine witnesses and remains with 10.

Wittika was found dead in his official company vehicle at Area 15 in Lilongwe on 20 September 2023.
