Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have ascended to the top of the TNM Super League after a commanding 3-0 victory against league newcomers, Creck Sporting Club, at Blantyre’s Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.
With seven points from three games, Wanderers lead the pack, closely followed by Silver Strikers, who hold second place with six points and a game in hand against Dedza Dynamos tomorrow.
Stanley Sanudi opened the scoring for Wanderers with a penalty in the 19th minute, followed by Christopher Kumwembe’s goal in the 36th minute and Gaddie Chirwa’s strike in the 88th minute sealed the victory.
Vice Coach Meke Mwase acknowledged the need for improvements despite the win, citing missed chances.
Meanwhile, Creck’s Coach MacDonald Mtetemera vowed a resurgence for his team, admitting they were outclassed.
Elsewhere, Moyale Barracks climbed to third place with six points after defeating Civil Service United 3-0. Emmanuel Allan, Charles Nkhoma and Chifundo Damba secured the victory with goals.
Moyale’s Coach Pritchard Mwansa hailed the win as a part of their learning process while Abbas Makawa, Coach for Civil, attributed their loss to missed opportunities.
Mzuzu Hammers moved to fourth place with six points from two games while Kamuzu Barracks secured a 3-1 win over FOMO Sporting, with goals from Zeliati Nkhoma and Olson Kanjira.
Despite the victory, Kamuzu Barracks’ Coach Charles Kamanga expressed dissatisfaction with their performance while FOMO’s Gilbert Chirwa lamented costly mistakes.
The match between Baka City and MAFCO ended in a goalless draw.
At the bottom of the table, Bangwe All Stars remain in 16th place with no point, alongside Baka in 15th.
Dedza Dynamos, Mighty Tigers and MAFCO have a point each, occupying the 14th, 13th, and 12th positions, respectively.
On Sunday, defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will face Chitipa United while Mighty Tigers take on Mzuzu Hammers and Bangwe All Stars will meet Karonga United.
