As the world is moving towards the 4th industrial revolution, adapting and developing ideas and solutions has been described as key.
The remarks have been made by Innovation Manager at Save the Children, Bright Chidzumeni, at Mponela in Dowa District during a dissemination project meant to address local challenges faced during emerging disasters, which was organized by NxT Gen Labs in collaboration with Save the Children.
Chidzumeni applauded youths that presented different innovations, saying they are responding to challenges facing the country.
He cited the blind classroom which is meant to help those who are visually impaired and the e-flooding, which has been designed to alert people when flood is to happen, as classic examples.
One of the innovators, Aubrey Kachinjika, said he developed an automated device to alert people about floods and be able to run to the safety places following his experience as his family got affected by floods and lost everything.
Business Development Officer at NXT Gen Labs, Kelvin Mateyu, appreciated the innovators for living up to expectations, saying such technologies will benefit the country for generations to come.
He then called on the government and companies to keep investing in such innovations.
