Deputy Minister of Health Halima Daudi has called on the corporate sector to support public health services, highlighting challenges in delivering effective healthcare.
Daudi made the call in Lilongwe during this year’s Be More Race competition, attracting over 2000 athletes.
“We are thankful for what Standard Bank has done in channelling the 2024 Be More Race proceeds to the pediatric cancer ward at the National Cancer Centre,” she said.
The Bank’s Head of Corporate and Investment, Frank Tantaya, described this year’s marathon as a record breaker due to the high number of participants.
“As a bank, we are proud of this initiative and the impact it continues to make in the country,” Tantaya said.
Chikondi Mwanyali of the Civil Service Club won the 2024 Be More Race half marathon in Lilongwe, finishing in one hour and six minutes.
Previously, the proceeds of the contest were going into the education sector.
