Stakeholders urged to prioritise youth led Initiatives

Youth Advisory Council Member for USAID Christie Banda has urged government and other  stakeholders to prioritise youth led initiatives saying young people have innovative ideas aligned with the country’s development agenda but lack support.

Banda said young people are making strides towards national development but have insufficient resources  to help them grow. She cited examples of Tusaiwe Mukhondiya founder of a charity organisation called You Are Not Alone (YANA) that helps underprivileged children saying such initiatives need support.

In his remarks, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Chikumbutso Mtumodzi, assured young people of government’s commitment towards youth development and empowerment. He highlighted the reviewed National Youth Policy which he said accommodates the youth holistically.
