The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Malawi says it is in support of the Disaster Risk Management Bill which is expected to be tabled in Parliament this week.
Among others, the bill seeks to mitigate the impact of natural disasters in the country.
Country Director for ADRA Malawi, Pastor Dennis Matekenya, was speaking in Phalombe on the sidelines of disaster response by his organisation.
“It is better late than never at all. I expect that all key players will be involved in the implementation so that the response plan should be robust,” said Pastor Matekenya.
According to Pastor Matekenya, ADRA donated relief items worth K120 million to survivors of Cyclone Freddy in the Southern Region of Malawi.
Tropical Cyclone Freddy has displaced about 500,000 people in the country.
