Government says it intends to invest in the production of quality seeds to help farmers enhance agriculture output.
Director of Agriculture Research at the Ministry of Agriculture, said this in Lilongwe during the launch of the seed strategy and investment plan, where Secretary for Agriculture, Dixie Kampani said government seeks to ensure that every farmer in the country has access to quality seeds.
Seed Trade Association of Malawi Secretary General, Nessimu Nyama said the new strategy will assist seed traders in the country in planning and coordinating with various stakeholders along the value chain.
Meanwhile, Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa, has promised to support the implementation of the strategy with $1 million USD.
