RPC celebrates seven years of growth

This year, the Redeemed People’s Church (RPC) is celebrating seven years of resilience and growth since its inception in 2017.

This milestone was marked by a special church service at RPC’s headquarters in Lilongwe, where the church’s founder and president, Bishop Chimwemwe Mhango, encouraged members to draw strength from adversity and remain steadfast in their faith.

Reverend Mhango, a renowned Malawian gospel artist and theologian, reflected on the church’s humble beginnings and the challenges it has overcome.

“When we started, many viewed us as rebels, and few believed in our vision,” he said. Despite initial scepticism, RPC has grown into a recognised congregation under the Evangelical Association of Malawi, with a vibrant worship centre, expanding infrastructure, and an increasing membership base.

Mhango, who is also a former president of the Musicians Union of Malawi (MUM), further stated that in addition to its spiritual achievements, RPC is in the process of finalising its constitution to secure formal registration. He described this as a crucial step in solidifying the church’s governance and operations.

Bishop Mhango’s journey is deeply intertwined with the church’s growth. Before founding RPC, he served in various roles within the CCAP Church and NGOs, and gained recognition as a gospel musician. His leadership has been pivotal in guiding the church through challenging times.

Mhango remains optimistic that the church will continue its steady progress and spiritual impact, aiming to broaden its reach nationwide over the next two decades.
