Ripple Africa disposes illegal fishing gear in KK

Ripple Africa has disposed of 800 illegal fishing nets and monofilaments worth K800 million which were confiscated from fishermen within Nkhotakota Boma.

Force Ngwira, Country Director for Ripple Africa, says they launched an illegal fishing control measure in 2016 dubbed “Fish Conservation, Fish for Tomorrow Project”.

The exercise was done with the support from the Department of Fisheries, which is in line with the Fisheries Management and Conservation Act of 1997.
