RIGHTS GURU LAUDS GOVT FOR GRABBING UNHRC SEAT

Governance and human rights activist Undule Mwakasungula says Malawi’s election into the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) with the highest votes among African countries is pleasing and a source of national pride.

In a statement, Mwakasungula said the development serves as an affirmation of the country’s commitment to human rights.

“Appointment as a UNHRC member provides Malawi with a platform to influence global human rights policies,” said Mwakasungula.

According to Mwakasungula, the high number of votes Malawi received among African countries enhances Malawi’s diplomatic capital.
