Retired nurse assisted after appearing on Reach Out and Touch

Entrepreneur and philanthropist Triephornia Mpinganjira has donated a house to Ireen Tembo, a retired nurse based in Blantyre.

Her story came to light through MBC TV’s Reach Out and Touch programme, where the retired nurse narrated how she has been struggling to fend for herself.

The 66-year-old nurse, whose legs were amputated due to diabetes, has been struggling in terms of accommodation at Manase township in Blantyre after her house got wrecked by Cyclone Freddy.

Speaking when handing over the house, Mpinganjira who has supported the cause to the tune of K30 million,  said it is important for Malawians to be supporting each other.

Other well-wishers have also pledged to support the woman’s poultry business.

The initiative was championed by Professor Address Malata, a Professional nurse.
