Presidential Advisor on Civil Society Organisations, Martha Kwataine, has stressed the need for empowering women in political positions to actively contribute to social and economic activities in the country.
Kwataine said women have a unique passion for development since they are described as motherly. She urged them to participate in next year’s elections for posts like councillors in local councils and Members of Parliament in the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, the European Union through the National Initiative for Civic Education is strategising to support women on political empowerment for women initiatives in the country.
This follows the recent launching of the political empowerment of women 2024 to 2030 Strategy by the Ministry of gender, community development and social welfare as a tool to provide guidance in the implementation.
