Parliament has passed the revised Mid-Year Budget which is pegged at over K4 trillion.
This follows a two-hour thirty-minute vote-by-vote of the 57 votes in the budget.
Minister of Finance Simplex Chithyola Banda said the government will adhere to proper procedures when implementing the budget.
Chithyola said Malawi has regained donor confidence and government will ensure there is financial integrity to maintain that trust and confidence.
Meanwhile, a representative of the Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Ralph Jooma says the budget has passed after thorough scrutiny.
Jooma has also expressed hope that with the austerity measures put in place some expected programmes and projects will be implemented.
The mid-year budget has been revised upwards with an additional K500 billion.
