Mighty Mukuru Wanderers has condemned the attack of their Chief Executive Officer, Panganeni Ndovi, describing the acts as ‘cowardly’.
According to Blantyre Police’s publicist, Peter Mchiza, Ndovi was allegedly attacked by Cecil Malunga on 11 January in Blantyre.
In a statement signed by Wanderers’ Board Secretary, Chancy Gondwe, the attack is said to be linked to football-related matters because Ndovi had denied the suspect free-entry in the Blantyre derby in October at Kamuzu Stadium.
Gondwe said the team and its partners are not intimidated in their quest to develop football by such actions.
Ndovi is on record confirming his attack and was treated at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital.
On Sunday, Wanderers reported the matter to police and the law enforcers swiftly acted by apprehending Malunga, 45, who is expected to appear in court soon.
