Over 200 thousand people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Mangochi against a population of over 1 million people, Coordinator for the Expanded Program on Immunisation for the district Alinafe Hauya has disclosed.
Despite expressing concern on cases of misinformation, Hauya further said about 235, 000 others have also received the first dose of the jab.
“As a district, we are fairing well. People are eager to receive the vaccine as compared to when we started in 2021,” said Hauya.
“Many now seem to understand the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine due to awareness meetings we have been conducting, along with other stakeholders,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health has disclosed that national uptake for COVID – 19 vaccine stands at about 30 percent.
