Chairperson for Nsanje District Council, Hussein Ngwali, has called on contractors handling government projects in the district to adhere to high standards to ensure durability of the structures constructed.
He made the remarks on Thursday during the handover ceremony of contractors who will construct 2024-2025 infrastructure projects under Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD) and District Development Funds (DDF) at Group Village Head Alufandika in the area of Traditional Authority Ndamera in the District.
“We want to build Nsanje that will live longer. Our council will not tolerate shortcuts. All construction procedures and standards must be followed to guarantee high quality of the projects,” Ngwali said.
He also appealed to communities to take the lead in the implementation of the projects and said the district council will also make sure that the projects are implemented within its time frame.
Group Village Head Alufandika hailed the council for responding to calls from the community to construct staff house at yet to open Alufandika Community Day Secondary School.
