Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services has emphasised the importance of media practitioners in possessing comprehensive understanding of weather conditions to effectively communicate climate change issues to the public.

Head of Public Weather & Aviation Services at the Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services, Yobu Kachiwanda, said this in Salima at a media training meant to evaluate some of the health impacts of extreme climate change.

Kachiwanda said a well-trained media is essential for disseminating accurate information to the public, thereby enhancing early warning signs and promoting action to ensure a safer Malawi.

The two-day media training, organised with support from the World Health Organisation, brought together media practitioners from different regions of the country.
