Maphunziro Mbambande Programme registers impact in education sector

The Maphunziro Mbambande National Programme a joint initiative by World Vision International and Healthwise Organisation has impacted over 81,000 primary school children in Malawi with a notable increase in those reintegrated into schools after being rescued from early marriages.

The District Programmes Manager for World Vision Malawi, Harold Munthali, highlighted during a primary school quiz competition in Nkhoma, Lilongwe, that the programme’s objective is to enhance literacy levels and liberate children from early marriages and teen pregnancies, fostering self-confidence for educational advancement.

The Chief Education Officer for Lilongwe Rural East, Jennifer Chilunga Ndaferankhande, praised the programme’s commitment to grassroots education that syncs well with the government educational goals.

Launched in 2022, a total of 14 districts have benefitted from the programme. The initiative emphasizes on primary education with key activities like quiz competitions to promote scholarly competition that fosters academic excellence.

This year, Chowo Primary School has emerged winners in Lilongwe quiz competition.
