A total of K4.5 billion has been donated by the Scottish Government and other donors to aid in the rebuilding of 3,000 households that were devastated by Tropical Cyclone Freddy in Nsanje.
First Minister of Scotland, Humza Yousaf, announced the support on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28) in United Arab Emirates Dubai and promised to continue mobilising more resources for loss and damage.
During the event, Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change, Michael Usi, said he was pleased that 2,700 households will receive about K1.3 million directly over three months through a charity organisation known as Give Directly.
On Thursday, the conference approved the much-awaited loss and damage fund with countries announcing pledges totalling nearly $500 million.
Over 130 world leaders are attending the summit.
