KAWINGA FC CLINCH CHIPIKU LEAGUE TITLE, EARN SUPER LEAGUE PROMOTION

Kawinga football club have emerged champions of the 2023/24 Central Region Chipiku League after thumping fellow contenders St Gabriel Zitha by 4 – 1 in a highly tense match played at Nankhaka Stadium.

Rahim Mtondera scored a brace, with Razarus Chirwa and Imran Awali scoring the other goals while Kondwani Nyirenda scored Zitha’s consolation.

The win for Kawinga FC means they have earned Super League promotion after finishing top of the league with 53 points while Zitha are second with 47 points.

The final match between the two teams was delayed following a match-fixing scandal which rocked the two teams and Ngolowindo in which the Central Region Football Association slapped the teams and all involved individuals with different punishments.
