NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA) has announced a K1 Billion funding for local Non-Governmental Organisations operating in the country meant for capacity building.
The Chief Executive Officer for NGORA, Edward Chileka Banda, was speaking during a meeting in Blantyre meant to give an update on developments in the sector.
“I must commend the great work that NGOs are doing in the country in different areas, I think we can clap hands for ourselves,” said Banda.
Furthermore, Banda said there is an increase in the number of NGOs that have obtained valid licenses from 199 NGOs last year to about 463 NGOs this year.
Present at the meeting was the Presidential Advisor on NGOs, Martha Kwataine, who expressed optimism that the K1billion funding will serve its purpose.
