Renowned journalist Bester Nyangwa has released a handbook on mental health aimed at assisting university students in coping with mental health challenges.
Nyangwa, a Journalism lecturer at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), conducted a study revealing that many students experience stress, leading to mental health issues.
“Students often suffer from mental health problems silently, burdened by academic and financial pressures, among others. They hesitate to share their issues with peers, hindering potential solutions and impacting their studies. This book, titled ‘Navigating Mental Well-Being in University Life’ offers guidance on seeking professional help,” Nyangwa said during the book’s launch at MUBAS.
Psychologist Chiwoza Bandawe, an academician at Kamuzu University for Health Sciences (KUHES), highlighted that university students worldwide avoid seeking mental health support due to associated stigma.
