Jazz music fans across the globe are mourning the loss of internationally acclaimed saxophonist David Sanborn.
He died on Sunday after battling prostate cancer.
A brief statement on his social media pages indicates that the six times Grammy Award winner never let his battle with the disease stand in the way of his work.
“Mr Sanborn had been dealing with prostate cancer since 2018, but had been able to maintain his normal schedule of concerts until recently,” it reads.
Born July 30, 1945, the acclaimed artist already had concerts lined up until 2025.
Among the popular tracks he appeared on was ‘Maputo’ which he jointly did with Bob James and ‘Run for cover’ which he did with Marcus Miller.
