Israel donates desks to LCC

The Israeli government through its ambassador to Malawi, Michael Lotem, has donated 300 desks to Lilongwe City Council (LCC) that will be distributed to some of the primary schools in the City.

Mayor of the City, Esther Sagawa, appreciated the gesture saying it would have a profound impact on the learners’ outcomes.

Sagawa, however, urged the teachers and Primary Education Advisor (PEA) to put to good use of the desks.

One of the schools which will benefit from the desks is Mkomachi in Lilongwe City Centre Constituency.

Legislator for the area, Alfred Jiya, appreciated the gesture saying it would ease the burden of learners attending classes while sitting on the floor.

According to LCC, Lilongwe Urban has 57 public primary schools and over 157,000 learners across 10 zones.
