The Institute of Public Opinion and Research (IPOR), a Zomba-based research think tank, has allocated K1.5 million to each of four Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in the old capital city.
The selected CBOs, namely Chikwekwe from T/A Mlumbe, Naphini from T/A Malemia, Mukiwa, and Chimbalanga, all from T/A Ngwerero, will undertake various community-led initiatives.
During the fund disbursement ceremony at Chikala Primary School in Zomba, IPOR’s Director of Training and Programs, Michael Chasukwa, emphasized the importance of local communities in addressing their challenges with assistance from local resources.
“These CBOs are deeply rooted in their villages and are well aware of the challenges faced by their communities. They are best positioned to address them,” said Chasukwa.
Over 1000 CBOs in the district expressed interest but only the four were selected for funding.
