In an interview with Malawi News Agency on Monday in Mzuzu, on behalf of the chiefs, Senior Chief Kameme of Chitipa suggested that the money should be channelled through local authorities for development projects in rural areas.

“We want our areas to be developed as such we advise government through local authorities to invest the money in developing our areas,” he stated.

General Secretary for Chief’s Council of Malawi, Senior Traditional Authority Lukwa said there are a lot of stalled projects which need to be completed and suggested that the K4 billion should be directed towards such projects.

“We ask government to give the money to local authorities so that it is used in a transparent and accountable manner,” he said.
