Speaking in the national assembly Hon. Chakwera stressed that even after one has castigated his party, there was no reason for the member to go as far as using such words in the honorable house.

Chakwera observed that it is with trivial matters like the one that started the whole issue that cause conflicts within groupings.

The Leader of opposition urged members to avoid castigating each other like was the case last Thursday where the member for Lilongwe city centre David Bisnowaty criticized MCP one party rule in the country.

“Mr. Speaker Sir saying all those insults is like demining your parents” lamented Chakwera.

Chakwera said as head of the party he takes full responsibility, he however said the country will not go forward if the people will continue to dwell on the past.

Deputy Leader of the House Kondwani Nankhumwa MP for Mulanje central said what happened was regrettable and should not be happening in this present time. 

Nankhumwa asked parliament to take up this matter into the business committee for thorough discussion.

“Mr. Speaker Sir, the business committee should come up with suitable sanctions to be used in future to any member who utter such racist words in parliament.

Nankhumwa further asked the Speaker to allow MP for Dedza North west to apologize in the house to the infringed party Hon. David Bisnowaty to which was denied by the house with murmurs.

Adding a voice to the condemnation was member for Mzimba North Agness Nyalonje who spoke on behalf of Peoples Party.

Nyalonje said racism is a human rights violation and should not be condoned by honorable members of the August house.

Concluding the issue Speaker of the National Assembly Richard msowoya warned all members to be responsible in their language.

 “Honorable members although you are protected, and although you are supposed to uphold your freedom of speech I would like to call you to be responsible in your language” said the Speaker.
