Mpamba Trust hands over school block and desks to Chiweni School

TNM through its mobile money platform Mpamba trust has reaffirmed its commitment to support the education sector by building and handing over a school block and desks to Chiweni Primary School in Chiradzulu.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, one of the board members for Mpamba Trust Dr Zacc Kawalala said the Trust, since 2017, has been giving back to the community in the education, health and disaster management sectors and the presentation of the block and desks symbolizes its commitment in securing the future generation through education.


"The Mpamba Trust is changing many lives. The interest money that we make from these transactions is given back to the people because as a Malawian company, we believe in giving back to the people that support us and supporting government achieve quality education," said Dr Kawalala.


Dr Kawalala said infrastructure development in rural areas is a catalyst for quality and better education as every child has the right to education and emphasized on the need for every child to attend school in an environment that is favourable for growth.


Headmaster for Chiweni Primary School Sosten Nowa said the institution is thankful for the additional school block and desks as this will propel students to attend classes regularly.


"When I joined this institution in 2017, we only had 340 students but the enrolment numbers have risen to 545 hence creating space problems. This school block will cater for the increasing number of pupils that keep coming. We want to make sure that there is a conducive work environment," said Nowa.

The school block and the desks hast cost 17 million Kwacha from funds realised from profits made from Mpamba transactions.
