The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa was speaking during the installation of Ajib Ali as new Traditional Authority Makanjira of Mangochi. Nankhumwa said chiefs can play a greater role in development of their areas because they are always in contact with the grassroots. He also urged chiefs to desist from corruption.
“Chiefs need to resist from corrupt practices in the country to achieve a lot in as far as development is concerned. Corruption is evil and it deters development,” said Nakhumwa adding that chiefs play a pivotal role on development of the country.
