According to Deputy Public Relations at Limbe Police, Pedzesayi Zembweneko, the car was coming from Blantyre heading Limbe where it hit the soldier at Independence Arc before it hit another person (security guard) who was guarding the Arc.

Meanwhile, according to Zembeneko, the guard, Julius Staford sustained severe head injuries and is admitted at QECH. He comes from Chibwana village, Traditional Authority Kuntaja in Blantyre

The deceased is Yamikani Phiri 26 who hails from Jauma village, Traditional Authority Malemia in Zomba.

The police are trying their best to trace and arrest the runaway driver.
