Veteran Jobson Adams fails to stop Laston Kaira

A veteran boxer Jobson Adams from Lilongwe failed to use his experience on Sunday when he was smashed down by Laston Kaira of Mzuzu in an 8 rounds non-title bout at Obrigado Leisure Centre in Mzuzu.

Kaira who is an upcoming professional boxer pushed a veteran boxer Adams in the first 5 rounds but failed to maintain in the last 3.


Most of the spectators that packed Obrigado Leisure Centre thought the encounter would end in a draw.
However, the judges had another view with two of them scoring the bout in favour of Kaira and one against Adams.


The judges scored Adams and Kaira 78-74, 74-76, 79-80 records respectively. However at the end of the bout their was confusion as first announcement shown Jobson Adams as a winner but later the decision was reversed.


Adams who was an entertainer of the bout controlled the last three rounds as he shown his experience to Kaira.


Jobson Adams has 74 bouts, won 68 with 3 draws and 2 loses while Laston Kaira has fought 7 bouts with 4 wins, 2 draws and 2 looses.


Veteran Jobson Adams started his fights during Ali Faki, Chikoya Mphande and Shasha Masamba.


The bout was curtain raised by two women boxers from Lilongwe, Enelesi Mkhwati and Ellen Simwaka.


Enelesi Mkhwathi managed to beat Ellen Simwaka through points in a four round bout.


Baghdad Mwamlima Boxing Promotion sponsored the bout as one way of fundraising the money for the maitainance of the ring which is in a bad shape.
