According to Chairperson of the group Morris Richard, town authorities are failing to collect garbage from the market and they have demanded that the council construct bicycle path at M’baluku Road block.
The angry vendors handed over their petition to Mangochi Town Council on Tuesday May 26th.
This according to the chair of the grouping Morris Richard the countdown has begun and it will stop on 1st June.
The vendors have expressed fear of various diseases break outs from the uncollected refuse which is piling high in most parts of the market.
Speaking in an interview chairperson for Mangochi Town Council Ibrahim Kacheya said the council will not meet the ultimatum given as the council has no money for the exercise.

However despite the financial setback Kacheya acknowledged the problem and promised to look for funds to cover the project.
He further indicated that following the petition they have already sourced quotations for the job and it is hovering around K1.2 million.
Kacheya also said they hope that refuse collection will be enhanced when a water and sanitation health WASH project starts in the town.
The project is to construct toilets but the Chair said he will discuss with them to put refuse bins in strategic points and assist in collecting the garbage.
A visit to the market has revealed that only one water tap is running while the rest have been disconnected by southern region water board over unpaid bills.
Meanwhile the vendors have not yet received the response from the council and it is uncertain as to what they will do when informed of the council’s failure to commence and finish the exercise within the specified time period.
Each vendor is required to pay K100 a day.
