“Looking at all the offices I have visited, it is evident enough for me to conclude that you are facing huge challenges. From equipment to infrastructure, it is evident that they are outdated and making your jobs very difficult,” said the Minister.

“We will try to find means and ways to improve the equipment as well as the infrastructure,” assured Hon. Ndau.

The Minister further emphasized on the need for team work in order to achieve essential goals in any institution.

“A big mistake anyone can make is to approach a new project with a mentality of ‘I know all’, the fact that you think you know everything is proof of your ignorance,” he said.

“We are all created differently with unique set of skills and capabilities, we are here to harness all these skills for the betterment of our society,” said the Minister.

Sumbuleta said since its establishment in 1964, only a few things have been modernized which is crippling the institution with the ever changing world of speedy technology.

“Equipment still remains one of the biggest challenges we have, we are trying our best to catch up with technology but with outdated equipment it is difficult to achieve such a goal,” said the Director General.

Sumbuleta also highlighted on the need for financial relief as the Corporation owes Malawi Revenue Authority- MRA K3.6 billion.

“This debt came about during the time MBC was given K1 and we failed to remit tax, as a result it has accumulated to K3.6 billion. With assistance from the Ministry, Board of Directors and Management, we try our level best to pursue other channels to find a lasting solution and understanding with MRA but so far no joy in sight,” explained the Director General to the Minister.

Sumbuleta then appealed to the Minister to take up the challenges and assist the state broadcaster accordingly for better service delivery to Malawians.
