According to CNN, Mhairi Black overturned the shadow foreign secretary’s huge 16,000 majority to win by 5,684 votes in the Paisley and Renfrewshire South seat.
She has made history by becoming the youngest lawmaker in the UK since 1667. But she has an immediate challenge ahead of her: getting her university degree.
Black is a final-year student of Politics and Public Policy at the University of Glasgow. In order to graduate and take on her first graduate job in the House of Commons she has to finish her dissertation. It's due at the end of the month.
Moments after her victory she tweeted 'Thank you to everyone who turned out and voted for me and helping me win the Paisley and Renfrewshire South #voteSnP'
