Parliament on Thursday passed the 2017/18 national budget, pegged at M1.3 trillion, with an eleventh increment to carter for MK12 million that has been added to the MK18 million Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

President Peter Mutharika has appointed a new University of Malawi (Unima) Council with Dr James Maida  as chairperson of the board.

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) constituency leaders from Lilongwe, Dowa and Mzimba districts say they still want the party to hold a convention next month adding that this was a demand by its general membership.
