Malawi Congress Party (MCP) parliamentarian Felix Jumbe on Friday contradicted his party President Lazarus Chakwera when he backed State President Peter Mutharika claims that no one died of hunger in the country.
Contrary to what other quarters have been claiming on social media that vice president the Right Honourable Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima has been stripped off some of his powers, the office of the President and cabinet has refuted the allegations.
According to a statement signed by Chief Secretary to government George Mkondiwa who announced about the cabinet reshufle on 7th April, 2016, His Excellency the President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, remains Minister of Defence and Commander-In-Chief of the Malawi Defence Force and the Malawi Police Service.
It further says , Vice President, remains Minister Responsible for Disaster and Relief Management, Public Events and Chairperson for the Civil Service and Public Service Reform Commission.
His Excellency the State President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by Section 94 (1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi, has made some changes to the Cabinet with effect from today, 7th April, 2016.
There was bloodshed at Chibavi ground in Mzuzu where the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), AFORD and Peoples Party (PP) held a political rally.
