In a published statement, Clerk of Parliament Fiona Kalemba said the ceremony will be followed by the election of Speaker of Parliament.
“Prior to the swearing in, there will be orientation workshop for the Members-Elect to be held at Bingu International Conference Centre from Monday 10th June to Friday, 17th June, 2019.
“The workshop is aimed at providing the newly elected Members of Parliament with general information on government operations and contemporary issues which are relevant to their work,” said Kalemba.
According to the released results of May 21 Parliamentary elections by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) , the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has the most Members of Parliament (MP) with 62, seven ahead of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) which has 55 seats.
UTM has four MPs, UDF has 10, PP has 5, Aford has 1, while 55 are independent parliamentarians.
